The Stillwater Pioneer boys’ golf team was one of 12 teams to be invited to the OSSAA Boys Fall Preview Golf Tournament and placed 5th overall, with a team total of 622 and shooting 46 over par.
Junior golfer Tristan Parks, who placed 11th individually in this tournament, shot six over par with 150 (75-75). Parks has been playing golf for five years, three of which have been competitively.
“I would say playing competitively for three years definitely helps with the pressure,” Parks says.
The team atmosphere has been known to help the players stay ready to play and stay prepared for any outcome, he said.
“Having good teammates definitely helps and having competitive teammates that are going to push each other helps build the team and make each other work harder,” junior golfer Michael Robertson said.
He said the team hopes to work hard and make it to the state tournament this year, while also improving every day from last year.
