After over a decade of live-action Transformers movies that progressively got worse over time, the latest film in the franchise is an incredible breath of fresh air. “Transformers One” is a fully animated movie that tells the origin of Optimus Prime and Megatron and how they went from practically brothers, to enemies.
The film has an animation style that feels next-level. Watching this movie made it feel like my eyes were blessed. Every frame of this movie feels incredibly detailed and stylized. The animation makes the characters very expressive and full of personality. The story, for the most part, feels very fleshed out and is a fresh take on the Transformers franchise. However, some plot points in the movie feel like they either forgot to conclude them, or they are saving those plot points for future sequels.
The characters of this movie have amazing development. The different motives between characters build up a perfect conflict for the story. The performances from the voice actors also benefited the characters. Every actor played their part beautifully. Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime is an incredible choice of casting.
The main issue I was confused about in this movie was the humor. Most of the jokes came from Bumblebee, or B-127 as he is referred to in the movie, since he is portrayed as the comic relief for the movie. Some of his jokes were a little stupid for me. I understand the jokes were not the main focus of the movie, but some of them were a tiny bit annoying. But that does not matter, because once again the humor was not the main focus and it makes up for it with everything I previously said.
Overall, the film has a lot to offer for all ages. It’s a fun watch and brings incredible excitement for the future of the franchise. And that’s why I highly recommend “Transformers One.”
