Stillwater Makes a Change has officially begun working toward their goal to raise money for this year’s beneficiary, Payne County Youth Services. The executive team introduced themselves and spoke about their plans at the first meeting of the year on October 9.
The theme for SMAC this year is “Games,” and some of the events that are happening during SMAC Week are the fashion show, pickleball tournament, yoga night and a gala.
Kinley Moore, co-director of SMAC, said she wants to make this year the best it can be.
“We plan to make this year a success by doing everything we can to plan out the details of events and work together to accomplish this,” Moore said. “We have a great team who is encouraging and cooperative and is ultimately what will make this year so successful.”
Romy Elliott, decorations executive, is excited for the upcoming year.
“I’m most excited about being able to see the end of SMAC, how far we’ve come from the beginning, and all that we were able to accomplish,” Elliott said.
The beneficiary this year is Payne County Youth Services and Ms. Stepp, one of the SMAC teacher sponsors, knows the impact that SMAC will be able to make for them.
“This beneficiary is important because it will provide an updated kitchen for youth in our community,” Stepp said. “It will allow youth to learn life skills of cooking, cleaning, social skills and create a family environment.”
The SMAC executive team said they plan to make this year one to remember.
