The latest installment of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Sonic X Shadow Generations, has just been released for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC in the United States. This new video game from Sega includes a remake of one of their most beloved games, Sonic Generations, and includes additional content for one of their most popular characters, Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic X Shadow Generations comes with two campaigns. One being a fully remastered Sonic Generations, and the other involving Shadow adventuring into his painful past to unlock new abilities to save the world from Black Doom. The new campaign comes with new stages from past Sonic games, new original music and different power-ups for more gameplay variety. 

Sophomore Xavier Woods has played the game fully and likes what he has seen.

“It’s pretty good,” Woods said. “The ranked missions are easy, the extra missions are pretty good and the open world is fun. It’s a really good Sonic game.”

After only a day of release, Sonic X Shadow Generations has become one of the highest, if not the highest, rated Sonic game ever. According to online reviews, it debuted with a 9/10 from IGN, an 80 percent on Metacritic, a 10/10 on Steam and a 6/10 on Gamespot. 

Some users on Metacritic say Sonic X Shadow Generations is a must have for all Sonic fans. They also say that the new campaign for Shadow has incredible gameplay with a good story and excellent graphics.

Based on online feedback, Sonic X Shadow Generations is one of the most well-received Sonic games and brings excitement to fans for the future of this franchise.
