There is a Stillwater High School staff member who has a little-known but interesting hobby that she has been enjoying for more than 40 years.
Library Media Specialist Ms. Ferguson has been riding motorcycles for more than four decades, and it has taken her to many states, including a 10-states-in-10-days ride that she and her husband completed in the 1980s.
“I love the freedom I have while riding and nothing is caging you in,” Ferguson said.
She has been on many trips, including a trip to Turner Falls with her mother-in-law, and to Billings, Montana, which was part of the trip where she and her husband rode through 10 states in 10 days.
Ferguson said her best memory is when they had motorcycle problems in Wyoming and they went to a donut shop looking for help. The owner of the donut shop lived in an apartment above the shop and offered them a place to stay and get cleaned up. They were able to get some sleep before hitting the road again the next morning.
Ms. Ferguson has been at SHS for 22 years and has been a teacher for a total of 37 years. Before coming to Stillwater, she taught in Glencoe.
Ms. Ferguson is already planning her next ride, which will be to Black Mesa in the spring.
