One of the English Language Learner classes had a guest speaker last month from the State Legislature.
Ms.Stirling-Durrant’s class learned about the three branches of government from Susan Wallace, the executive assistant to Oklahoma State Senator Rob Standridge.
“She was able to provide valuable insights into how a bill becomes a law,” Stirling-Durrant said.
She also said the cherry on top for the experience was that Ms. Coca, District Coordinator for Multilingual Learners & Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, was able to translate what the guest speaker was saying to Stirling-Durrant’s ELL class.
“It is heartening to know that our ELL students could engage with the content and enjoy the experience,” she said.
