A former Stillwater student is now teaching in the same classroom she once learned in.
Ms. Bergbower is the new French teacher and said she enjoys teaching at her alma mater.
“I am very grateful to be teaching here at such a great high school with wonderful staff,” Bergbower said.
As a Stillwater student, Bergbower took French because she thought it sounded interesting and because her friends were doing it. She had no idea that it would lead to her teaching French, but she is so glad that it did.
Starting her third year in education, teaching high school is very different from what she did, Bergbower stated. She taught at Westwood Elementary School as a third and fourth grade teacher. But her first year at the high school is going well, she said.
Bergbower said one of her favorite memories so far this year came from when she hosted a French Club Cafe Day recently.
“Lots of people, whether they are currently in French class or not, brought French treats to share, like French bread, croissants, cookies, meringues, and tea and coffee,” she said. “It was a really fun time.”
Bergbower said she made the move to the high school for a specific reason.
“I teach at the high school because I want to make sure students have the same opportunities to learn French that I did,” she said.
