A Stillwater High School student is making a change for the better in the Pioneer Pantry and for surrounding peers by hosting a shoe drive donating shoes the shoes she received to kids in need.
Baylor Citizen, a junior, hosted the shoe drive a couple months ago and collected 400 shoes. She has been donating shoes for three years now, and she said she enjoys being able to help people.
“I want to help others because I enjoy getting new shoes, but I know some kids aren’t able to so I wanted to change that,” Citizen said.
Her efforts even made state news. News Channel 4 came to the school and interviewed Citizen about her shoe drive.
She is able to gather so many shoes because people not only donate shoes but also money.
This year she gathered more shoes than any previous year. Next year will be her senior year and her goal is to double the amount of shoes she donated this year.
