Students showed off their outfits on stage at the annual SMAC Fashion Show on March 10, showcasing their unique styles and creativity in front of a lively crowd.
Co-sponsor Ms. Mitchell said the purpose of the fashion show is to raise money for Payne County Youth Services.
“[The purpose is] to showcase seniors in the grad wear category, and it’s also a way to bring in the community to help support SMAC and raise money for PCYS,” Mitchell said.
Ms. Mitchell continued to say that the SMAC Fashion Show was able to showcase clothes that were made in costuming class and fashion design class, two new categories that have never been presented at the fashion show before.
“It was cool to see how creative our students in our school are,” Mitchell said.
Senior SMAC Fashion Show Coordinator Ella Weiberg said this was her second year hosting the event. She said the fundraiser went well and it ended up being a successful night.
“We sold a lot of tickets, which got us the most money, and we raised over 2,000 in that event alone,” Weiberg said. “The preparation for it went well and everyone cooperated. We had a lot of people who wanted to [volunteer] and it went smoothly.”
Participant Bella Martin said the experience was fun, and she had a lot of fun coming up with poses with her partner Evan Belden. She also enjoyed seeing all her friends in dresses and costumes.
“I wanted to do it because I’ve always been in the audience and wanted to experience what it would be like walking,” Martin said.
