Sophomore golfer Maggie Ruby placed 1st in Stillwater’s first golf tournament of the season at Stillwater Country Club on March 1. Reporter Kennedy Reed had a chance to ask her about the performance.
Q: How did you feel after placing first?
A: I felt happy because I had never placed first in a highschool golf tournament before.
Q: What was the most challenging part of the competition?
A: The weather conditions were really bad, it was so windy.
Q: How did you celebrate this win?
A: We had a team dinner.
Q: What was the best part of your golf game?
A: I hit my driver really well, and hit 11 out the 13 fairways.
Q: How did you focus when things got tough on the course?
A: I stayed patient and positive with myself.
Q: What was the toughest hole for you during the tournament?
A: Number 15, I hit it in the water and made a double.
Q: What are you looking forward to for the rest of the season?
A: Playing in more tournaments with my teammates.
