A current junior drama student who has been performing for many years, had a part in the Addams Family musical last Spring at the Performing Arts Center.
Kyeson Daffern was a sophomore when he was casted as the role of Lucas Beineke, the boyfriend of Wednesday Addams, in the production and said he fell in love with the show after learning more about it.
“The acting and the story that we really put together was very, very well done.” Daffern said. “I absolutely loved the Adams family, and I love all the people in love.”
Daffern started his singing craft at the young age of three and has accomplished a lot, even going to All State two years in a row. He said he started singing in the school choir in middle school and enjoyed the feeling of having a second family.
“There’s a certain bonding experience that comes from choir that I’ve just never experienced anywhere else,” he said.
Daffern’s high school teacher Ms. Raines has been teaching Daffern for the last two years and claims that his talent and hard work ethic will help him set his future.
“He has the talent, he’s got the work ethic,” Ms. Raines said. “We’re working on foundational techniques, and he has expressed an interest in pursuing music education beyond

high school.”
One of Daffern’s fellow casters was a senior at the time and recently graduated in May. Hank Hanrahan played Uncle Fester, and he had some good things to say about Daffern’s performance. When asked how Daffern did in the play, he said even though it was Daffern’s first show, he did great and overcame some challenges.
“That was his first show here at the high school,” Hanrahan said. “And he kind of just had to jump into a bigger position, which is difficult. And I think he took on a lot of the challenges,
and really just grew a lot from day one of rehearsal to performance at the end of the night.”
