The Stillwater High School Pioneers put on an electric performance last Friday, defeating Lawton Eisenhower in a 66-20 triumph over the Eagles in the annual Pink Out game. The Pioneers showcased their offensive strength, led by starting quarterback Mason Schubert, who ended the game with seven touchdowns and 278 yards.
Schubert made two connections to sophomore wide receiver Deakon Jones for two touchdowns and 180 yards. Additionally, running back Shayden Green carved through the Eagles’ defense for an 81-yard contribution to the Pioneer victory.
Pioneers made their mark on the defensive side as well. Strong safety Keaton Mason kicked off the game with an interception in the first quarter. Sophomore Dax Renolet ended the night with a pick in the fourth quarter of his varsity debut.
“It feels great, first varsity debut and my first pick,” Renolet said postgame. “Hopefully we’re looking at a state championship.”
Pioneer safety coach Julius Talley had encouraging words for his team, but also acknowledging room for improvement.
“We performed well, had some great plays, but a few dropped picks—that’s something we’ve got to work on,” Talley said. “We’re looking at a winning season. We’re prepared for a state championship.”
