Most 17-year-olds are working on their driving skills, but Hudson Camp is working on getting his pilot license.
Hudson, a Stillwater High School senior, is currently getting his license through Crosswind Aviation at the Stillwater Regional Airport. To be able to further his license, he will need 40 hours of flying time, but most pilots will take their test at hour 75. He now has around twenty four hours.
“Flying is awesome, you should try it sometime,” Hudson said.
Hudson found this love of flying through his childhood. He grew up in Turkey and was constantly in the air from traveling. He noticed at a young age how his impressions of flying were different from his parents, who were nervous fliers. The thrill of flying did not frighten him, but instead it excited him.
He hopes to use his license in the future to become a commercial pilot or a private pilot for celebrities.
The farthest he has flown thus far is to Kansas, and that ended up being a two-hour total flying time. He hopes to fly much farther in his future.
