Stillwater High School move-in quarterback Mason Schubert is lighting up the 6A-2 world with his fantastic dual threat abilities.
Schubert and the Pioneers have started off the season with a 3-1 record that includes a win over one of the best teams in the state, Tulsa Union. In the 36-35 win in overtime, Schubert had three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, and even had the game-winning 2-point conversion.
“I couldn’t have done this without the rest of my team and O-line,” Schubert said of his success since moving to Stillwater. “We have a long season ahead of us, but we are on the right path.”
Schubert moved from Morrison High School this summer. While at Morrison, he started at defensive back his freshman year, and his sophomore and junior year he started at quarterback.
Stillwater Head Coach Chad Cawood said Schubert has adapted to his new team since transferring.
“Schubert is a locker room guy that has fit right in with the team,” Cawood said.
In his second year as the head coach, Cawood said the current Pioneer team is one of the youngest teams they have had in a while.
As for the rest of the season, Schubert said he is having fun and his expectations are high.
“I expect nothing less than to win a state title,” he said.
