Seven senior members of the Stillwater High School Pom Team tried out for the Oklahoma State University Pom team and all seven made it to the second round.
Dacee Fix, Sallie Hasenmyer, Molly Middlebrook, Emery Plank, Kamdyn Reese, Scotlynn Doty and Lily Williamson all made it through the first round of tryouts. There will be a total of three rounds.
“I felt very nervous, but I was excited to get past it and be able to compete in front of judges for the next round,” Fix said.
Williamson said being on the OSU Pom team has been a dream of hers from a young age.
“I would always just watch the pom girls at the football and basketball games, and I’m really excited to see what the future holds for me,” Williamson said.
As far as the tryouts go, Reese said she feels like she’s done a good job so far.
“It comes with a lot of stress, but we’ve all worked together to make sure that we’re just having fun in the process,” she said.
The tryouts for semi finals will be held on May 2 and 3, and they will find out shortly after that if they made it to the finals.
