Nine students placed and one received an honorable mention at the Payne County Youth Services Voices of Today’s Art Competition.
Art Teacher Ms. Peters said the art pieces were a part of a project for class. The theme of the project was a mindscape, which is an abstract landscape that reflects an emotion.
“I think they did really great, ” Ms. Peters said.
Junior Ana Berger said she was surprised when she learned that she won.
“I was painting what I felt in the moment,” Berger said.
Senior Madison Ryan submitted a watercolor painting that depicted a fish in the desert.
“It was a surprise,” Ryan said when asked about the painting.
Sophomore Caroline Nolan submitted a black and white piece.
“It was amazing,” she said when asked about how it felt to place.
