A couple weeks ago the Performing Arts Department wrapped up their annual Spring Musical. There was a four-day production of The Addams Family by the theatre, tech theatre and orchestra students.
Theater director Ms. Ziegler and 85 students from all across this school put on the musical. Ziegler said she has been preparing since July ever since she applied for the rights to the show. Ms. Ziegler noted that people attending this musical would enjoy it.
“To see my students come together and put on a show they worked so hard for,” Ms Ziegler said. “It’s a darn good musical,” she said.
Senior Julius Cundiff, who played Wednesday Addams, said she was excited to play Wednesday because it’s a different character type that she has not played before.
“I like Wednesday because I get to carry a crossbow,” Cundiff said, adding, “This show is incredibly talented.”
Sophomore Richie Gonzalez, who played Gomez Addams, said that his favorite scene was Act 2 Scene 5 where he talks to Wednesday over a sad moment.
“I like Gomez because of his passion. It’s very me,” Richie said. “I wanted to be Gomez because he was a Spanish man.”
The Addams Family production also had two talented students who were recognized for their performances. Seniors Brinkley Niles and Hank Hanrahan were selected as candidates for The Discovery Awards, an award to highlight and award excellence in high school theatre.
