For Ethan and Brady Holliday, baseball isn’t just a game; it’s a family affair. These cousins, now teammates at Stillwater High School, have turned their family bond into an on-field connection.
“Our family dynamic is special because I get to compete with someone so close to me that I’ve known my whole life,” said Ethan Holliday.
Brady agreed, adding, “Our family dynamic allows us to just have fun and enjoy every moment.”
Their connection extends beyond the baseball field as well.
“We spend almost every day together on and off the field,” Ethan said.
Brady added that they spend a lot of time together outside of baseball.
“I think this makes the on-field connection even better,” he said
This close relationship also allows for open and honest communication.
“It’s easy for me to give him criticism because he knows I want him to succeed just as much as he wants himself to succeed, and it’s the same the other way around,” Ethan said.
Brady agreed and said he thinks being cousins helps with their teamwork
“We are very comfortable being able to encourage one another but also critique each other and try to make certain stuff better,” Brady said.
Ethan said his favorite memory he got to share with Brady so far would be winning the regional tournament last year.
Brady jokingly agreed and said, “I’d say my favorite memory is giving Bixby that work both times.”
Coach Zach Boydston, one of the SHS Baseball coaches, is optimistic about what the Holliday cousins can bring to the team.
“It’s really cool to see another set of Holliday family members play together,” he said.
