A Stillwater High School Tradition dating back before 2009, the Wagon crew has been an adamant part of the sports atmosphere by exciting the crowd, setting up the inflatable wagon and so much more.
The Wagon Crew consists of a group of seniors that set up the inflatable wagon football athletes run through before games. Not only do they set up the wagon, wagon crew leads chants, hypes up the crowd and has a multitude of traditions, including the pushup boards.
“The pushup board is honestly my favorite,” Wagon Crew member Kinley Moore said. “It’s so fun when the whole student section gets to counting.”
Wagon Crew started at Hamilton Field before the new stadium was built. In the early stages, Wagon Crew was called the “Drop Squad,” which consisted of six to seven senior boys who performed stunts and chants in the shape of an “S” and “H.”
Due to frequent injuries among the boys, the district called off the squad. With the building of the new stadium, the drop squad transitioned into Wagon Crew.
Along with the members, the players and cheerleaders have all good things to say about Wagon Crew.
“It’s very supportive, which is great, it’s a great thing,” defensive lineman Nehemiah Kolone said.
McKenna Burns, SHS Cheerleader, moved here from Wyoming and said the Wagon Crew tradition is something she’s never seen before.
“We didn’t have anything really like Wagon Crew,” Burns said. “My first thought when I saw Wagon Crew was wow this is so cool, I’ve never seen anything like this.”
According to football fan Daniel Wulfert, the Wagon Crew is “goated, crazy, fun and energetic.”
