One Stillwater High School senior has a unique passion that he hopes will turn into a successful career in the future.
Jamiere Dickens-Smith started boxing more than a year ago because it inspired him to be the best version of himself.
“It started getting me really confident about myself,” he said. “It also made me a lot stronger as a person and gave me a good mental mindset.”
Dickens-Smith is preparing for his upcoming Tuff Man boxing competition in Choctaw. He said he has been training for his competition for five weeks. During his training sessions, he hits the heavy bag, runs one mile on the treadmill and does at least three rounds of jump rope.
His favorite part about boxing is fighting and hitting people. In his spare time he either stays at home and plays video games, goes out for a run or hangs out with his friends.
Boxing is a passion for Dickens-Smith. He can see himself being successful in it and making a career out of it.
At the competition, Dickens-Smith is hoping to put on a show for everyone there watching and win.
“I want to show people what I can do,” he said.
