This year’s SMAC directors and members helped to create a huge impact on local nonprofit organization Turning Point Ranch by exceeding fundraising goals during SMAC Week and raising more than $120,000.
SMAC’s original goal was to raise $50,000 for Turning Point Ranch. The organization had originally asked for this much, so the exec team was excited to tell them that they had almost tripled their original goal.
“I was just really surprised and happy because we got to announce how much we raised to the people at the Turning Point, and their reactions were honestly the best part,” Senior SMAC Director Bella Martin said.
SMAC directors couldn’t contain their excitement and shock at hearing the initial number of how much was raised from the different events during this year’s SMAC Week.
“My favorite event this year was the fashion show,” Senior SMAC Director Addison Edwards said. “It went really smoothly this year behind the scenes, and then it also just looked so good on stage. All of the photos turned out great, and so many people came to watch and support Turning Point Ranch. It just felt like everyone there came to help us make a difference.”
Co-Sponsor for SMAC, Heather Mitchell, has been helping with the student organization for four years and said she enjoys engaging with the students.
“It was so exciting to reveal the number to the exec team, but even more exciting to reveal it to Turning Point Ranch,” Mitchell said. “They are so deserving of all of it.”
