A sophomore is making an impact on the SHS Track team during his second year.
SHS Track Head Coach Paul Grant said Keeton Metcalf has developed into one of the leaders of the middle-distance runners.
“He has set some ambitious goals for himself and is working daily to achieve those goals,” Grant said.
Metcalf said last year’s track season changed how he went into this year.
“Qualifying for state made me more locked in,” said Metcalf, who also said he has set goals to medal at State this year and to hit 1:55 min in the 800-meter event.
SHS track athlete Trevor Thomas said Metcalf is a good teammate and they spend most weekends practicing together.
“He pushes people to do better,” Thomas said.
