SHS Student Council hosted an event called “Trick-Or-Canning,” where members went door-to-door and collected cans from a local neighborhood and donated them to the Harvest II canned food drive.
STUCO co-sponsor Ms.Turner said the event went well.
“I think the event was very successful,” Turner said. “We had some donations and got to interact with our community.”
Several STUCO members attended the event, and they collected more than 18 bags and two wagons full of cans.
STUCO president Shilynn Ropers said the event helps get students out of their comfort zones.
“Student Council is all about coming together, serving your community, [and] serving the school,” Ropers said. “So that’s why I went to Trick-or-Canning.”
STUCO member Jenna Christian said it’s good to be a part of an event that helps people.
“We got more food for people who don’t have it, and it was nice to see that people still care about that,” Christian said.
