Right off Main Street in Stillwater, Oklahoma, near the high school and university, Surf Bar provides a taste of the islands in the form of delicious açaí bowls, protein shakes and quick, fresh bites.
Well-liked for its colorful, beachy look and speedy drive-thru, Surf Bar serves up local staples like the Nutty Kiki—an açaí bowl with granola, strawberries, blueberries, almond butter and honey for a mere $10.49—or the Pink Shaka pitaya bowl with banana, blueberries, peanut butter and honey in a small size for $8.44.
“I’m all about the Nutty Kiki,” Junior Daniel Wulfert said.
Many high school students work at Surf Bar, blending up smoothies, making avocado toast ($7.49) and racing through the morning bagel and coffee crush. Afternoon brings the regulars cruising by for protein-packed favorites like the Nutty Popeye smoothie ($6.99) or the popular Okie Bowl.
“I get the Okie Bowl almost every time,” Senior Parker Edwards said.
Surf Bar doesn’t just hire high school students, it attracts high school students with its delicious, healthy options.
“My favorite’s the Nu-Stella,” Senior Avery Metcalf said.
Each bowl and smoothie goes out with love—sometimes a Sharpie smile or a quick scribble on the lid.
It’s fresh, fast, and made with heart, and that’s what keeps Stillwater coming back.
