Junior linebacker Kyles Stokes made 21 tackles in a high stakes district game against Choctaw earlier this season in a regular season game. The performance was the highest amount of tackles made by any Stillwater player this season.
Stokes said this is the most tackles he has ever had in a single game.
“It was a big achievement in my football career,” said Stokes, who also had one sack, four tackles for loss and 12 solo tackles, in addition to the 21 tackles.
Chad Cawood, Stillwater High School head football coach, said that Stokes does what the team needs and he is a very committed player.
“Kyle’s one of those guys who’s gonna do exactly what you ask him to do in the right way,” Cawood said.
Stokes has not always been a linebacker for Stillwater, as he has a background playing other positions.
“You know, growing up he wasn’t a linebacker, he was a D-end and has kind of been all over the place over this last off season, Cawood said. “This is his first time at linebacker, and he’s kind of settled in,” Cawood said.
