The Stillwater Boys and Girls Basketball teams each had their first game over Thanksgiving break. While everyone else was relaxing and preparing for Thanksgiving, these teams were working to bring home the first victory.
The Boys won 59-42, coming off the tip-off strong the boys held the momentum of the game the entire time. Sophomore Charlie Rutherford was able to provide insight to what was leading to this moment.
“Bipolar is how you need to be, animals and aggressive on defense, patient and calm on offense,” Rutherford said, reiterating the words of Head Coach Sean Morgan. There was much anticipation for this game.
Junior, Garrette McCutcheon, said, “Ponca was a main rival this season and to get to play them first was defining, but our team chemistry was just on point which helped lead us to victory.”
The Girls Basketball team also also successful, winning 54-31. The team was slow to begin, but then picked up toward the end.
Sophomore Graycie Murray said, “Our offense struggled but our defense played well.” Murray also said they need to work on running their plays.
While their team played well, the team still expressed there is room for improvement. Nevertheless, they also have a positive outlook on the season.
