Teachers felt lots of love during national teacher appreciation week May 4-8 at SHS.
SHS Principal Walter Howell said they had meals and drinks donated that week from local businesses and the school’s PTO.
“We have also shared kind words from students and parents with our teachers to help them realize what a difference they make in our students’ lives every day,” Howell said.
For Psychology teacher Searcy Crow, who has been teaching for 21 years, teacher appreciation week is more than for herself.
“More than anything, it makes me focus on my daughter’s teachers and the work they do for her everyday,” Crow said. “It’s nice to see students recognize.”
Math teacher Keaton Erskine was excited heading into his first-ever Teacher Appreciation Week, and said how all of the kind words his students say motivate him to finish the year off strong.
“I am struggling, and excited for summer as everyone else,” Erskine said.
